Governments are increasingly looking to restructure their economies to support low-emission, resource-efficient prosperity. Look no further than Quebec, whose battery sector has welcomed $16 billion in investments—and will soon create 6,000 new jobs—thanks to independent intermediary Propulsion Québec.
From its early recognition of the economic opportunities in battery manufacturing, to policy design, navigating institutional hurdles and stakeholder engagement, this French-language webinar will explore how Propulsion Québec’s success in the province’s electric transportation sector can serve as a blueprint for coordinating government action, empowering the private sector, and seizing the net-zero opportunity.
Louis Beaumier is Executive Director of the Institut de l’énergie Trottier at Polytechnique Montréal, dedicated at addressing the energy transition issues in a transdisciplinary manner.
The experience he has acquired over the years in his various roles – from software developer to engineering director, research and development – leads him to see that a misunderstood problem, like a poorly presented solution, is often the source of the difficulties of a project. He then turns to product management where he acts on both the understanding of the need and the presentation of the technical solution, which also results in greater relationships with customers.
As the Director of the Cité for Sustainable Mobility at Propulsion Québec, Victor Poudelet is in charge of the development of The Cité for Sustainable Mobility, the hub where the future of mobility and logistics in Quebec will be shaped.
Member of the Propulsion Québec team since June 2018, where he previously was the Director of Innovation and Experimentation , he has been involved in the development and execution of numerous projects in support of the development of Quebec’s electric and smart transportation industry.
Victor Poudelet has over 10 years of experience in strategic, sustainability and management consulting. Through his diversified experience, he has been able to merge technical and management concepts and act as a catalyst between all members of the industrial ecosystem.
He is a Professionnal Engineer registered at the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec and has completed a master’s degree in research (M.Sc.A) at the International Reference Centre for the Life Cycle of Products, Processes and Services (CIRAIG) at École Polytechnique de Montréal.
Bruno Arcand is a doctoral candidate in the School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA) at Carleton University. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science at the Université de Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Under the supervision of Professor James Meadowcroft, his doctoral thesis explores the politics of climate initiatives aimed at building a thriving green economy in the Canadian context. More broadly, his research focuses on low-carbon politics, green industrial policy, and the role of states in tackling climate change.
