Arlene Strom

Council Member

Arlene Strom is Chancellor of Mount Royal University, serving as its ceremonial head and ex-officio member of the Board of Governors. She retired from Suncor in 2023, where she held senior roles including Chief Sustainability Officer, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. Prior to Suncor, she practiced corporate and securities law in Calgary. 

Arlene holds a law degree and a Master’s in Political Science from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Trinity Western University. In 2024, she was an Advanced Leadership Initiative fellow at Harvard University. She currently chairs the Alberta Lieutenant Governor’s Arts Awards Foundation and the Energy Transition Centre and serves on the boards of Nature Conservancy Canada and Portage Energy.
